An NHS Health Check is a free health check aimed at adults aged 40 to 74. It involves measuring your blood pressure, pulse, height and weight and asking you some lifestyle questions to see whether there’s more you can do to look after your health.

At your NHS Health Check you'll have a few simple tests to check your risk of:
- heart disease
- kidney disease
If you're over 65, you'll also be told the signs and symptoms of dementia to look out for.

If you're aged 40-74 and don’t have a pre-existing condition, you can expect to receive a letter from your GP inviting you for a free NHS Health Check every five years.
